Are We At Fault For The Rise In The Medical Insurance Costs?

In the United States there are many people who die due to life threatening illnesses. Many of whom could have been saved if they had just had medical insurance and received preventive or necessary treatments. Health insurance should not be a luxury that is available only to the rich and famous, but the right of every single citizen in our country.

There are countries within Africa where there is not access to medication, preventive treatments and health care health care professionals. This is quite the opposite of what we are privileged to in our country. Due to Africa's lack of resources, relating to medical equipment, professionals and medications, there are numerous preventable deaths that occur each year, and there is no way to prevent others from dying of these aliments as well.

In the United States, however, we have medical care available, and our health is not even questioned. As a result we treat our bodies with disregard by eating unhealthy, not exercising and letting our medications fade out of the picture once we start to feel better. This causes deaths of our own doing, so to speak, and we are still not affording people life saving medications if they have no health insurance.

There is a need for a new awareness, to become conscious of the decisions we make regarding our bodies, to preserve our lives instead of destroying them. Medical conditions such as diabetes, heart attack, stroke and other vascular diseases are most of the time a product of our lifestyles.

It is crucial that we come to a realization that we are in control of how to continue our health. If that happened then medical care would only be necessary for odd injuries and illnesses here and there. This would reduce the strain on our medical system and expenses would decline.
